You don’t have to find your way alone.
Hi friend,
I’m so glad you’re here.
If you found your way to this newsletter, chances are you’re in a season you never expected — sitting with a kind of fear and love that has nowhere to go, wondering if your family is going to be okay.
I know that place. I’ve sat in those waiting rooms.
When my daughter Heather was struggling with an eating disorder, I felt completely alone. I didn’t know what I was looking at. I only knew something was terribly wrong. I searched for something — anything — that felt like it was written for me, for the parent on the outside looking in, desperate to help and not knowing how.
I couldn’t find it. So I wrote it.
Held in the Dark: Finding Light and Hope While Supporting Your Adolescent Through an Eating Disorder is the book I wish someone had handed me in that season. Written alongside Heather — who has been on both sides of this story — it’s honest, it’s personal, and it’s full of the hope we found on the other side.
This book is for you if:
- You’re a parent watching your child struggle and feeling powerless
- You’re exhausted, isolated, and desperate for someone who understands
- You need to know that there is light — even in the darkest seasons
Held in the Dark is coming in 2026, and I am so grateful you’ll be among the first to know when it’s available.
In the meantime, I’ll be sharing updates right here — including behind-the-scenes glimpses of the book, encouragement for the hard days, and resources to help you keep going.
Thank you for trusting me with your inbox. I don’t take that lightly.
With hope, Jennifer Hope Longenecker Author | Mental Health Coach | Mom who has been exactly where you are.
