Hello, my beautiful friends.
If you have been on my social media at all, you know that I recently participated in a collaborative book with nine other authors. It has been quite an amazing journey. Today, I want to give you a little glimpse into what this journey has been like for me.
Writing my chapter in this book was both challenging and healing for me. I wanted to share a little about the process and what I learned along the way. If you’re curious to see the book, here’s where you can find it: https://a.co/d/aOEtpZL.
I am often asked how I became a collaborative author, and one might sum up my journey in two key steps. First, I joined two writing communities: Hope Writers and Compel. Both organizations offer opportunities to “audition” for devotionals, Bible studies, or collaborative books.
Second, I took a risk. When I received an email from Hope Books about a collaborative opportunity, I pitched my idea. I thought the worst that could happen was a rejection, which I expected. To my surprise, a few days later, I received an email from Brian stating that my pitch had been accepted.
In 2019, I felt God calling me to write, but He didn’t give a specific idea or instructions on what to write about. Out of obedience, I began preparing to write. I joined Compel and Hope Writers, completed my degree in Scripture and Theology with a minor in Christian Ministries, and actively sought opportunities.
I learned that when God gives you a task, He may not reveal every step. Sometimes, one must be obedient in the preparation before God assigns the task.
Do you have a story that God is asking you to write? A collaborative book might be a good place to start.
